Rococo

December 7, 2009

While my last post was dedicated to the clean lines of mid-century modern, I’m going in a whole different direction with this one…

Rococo design is about as elaborate and ornate as it gets.

This palace combines two of my loves; ornate architecture and turquoise.

“A Sofa”

Now here are a few examples of Rococo being used in a modern setting.

The prints are more graphic, the lines cleaner, but it still has all the grandeur of the 18th century.

A much more simplified example of elegance:

For those who can’t stand the layering of pattern upon pattern use mostly modern but old world inspired items (notice the lamp base and the very plain vase with roses) and add one or two ornate pieces, like the teacup.
